Corrosion inhibition behaviour on carbon steel in well-water by Ethanolic extract of Portulaca quadrifida (Chicken weed) leaves

Objectives: To evaluate the corrosion inhibition of an ethanolic extract Portulaca quadrifida (PQ) leaves on carbon steel surface in well-water by using a weight-loss study with various immersion periods, temperatures, and pH. The kinetic thermodynamic parameters are calculated for temperatures. Methods: protective film has been analyzed SEM, EDX AFM studies. action PQ was potentiodynamic polarization study, electrochemical impedance studies used to analysis layer formed surface. Findings: maximum efficiency is found be 92% 500ppm 30ppm Zn2+ ions at 303K. synergistic effect exists between parameters. acts as mixed-type inhibitor. activation energy (Ea) values indicate that adsorption enthalpy (ΔH) suggests reaction endothermic. free (ΔGads) negative less than -20KJmol-1. ΔSads confirmed form ordered stable inhibitor molecule well equilibrium desorption processes. isotherm best fitted Langmuir model. Novelty: ΔGads belongs physisorption electrostatic character. process spontaneous. give strong interaction molecules Four isotherms including Langmuir, El-Awady, Flory-Huggins, Temkin models, investigate mode extract.
